Olathe, Kansas

Hello from Kansas!

We made it. Whew! We arrived at our hotel around 9pm, and fell into bed after nearly 14hrs of driving. It's supposed to be 11 hrs according to Google maps, but I don't think they take into account what it means to travel with two little kids and a puppy...

Bryce had his first presentation today, which went well aside from a few technical errors completely out of his hands. He came back stressed, but feeling good for the most part.

The kids and I had a quiet morning in the hotel room... well, being as we are making home in hotels these days, I was the obnoxious mom and propped the door open and let them run up and down the hall as I repacked and sorted suitcases.

After planning for Texas and 80 degree weather, all we had in our carry-in suitcases were shorts and t-shirts... not really going to cut it when the high is 49 and the wind chill makes it feel like it might be 30 degrees! So all the winter clothes came out of the "storage" suite case, and all the summer clothes went into storage:o). So fun. But we are all organized now. We've got our candle on the warming plate and a couple of fall decorations up and home sweet home!

I would say that our first two days are successful. It has been a stretch, but so far so good. Only a few minor set backs, such as mold and floaties in the coffee maker... yuck. And the faint smell of cigarette smoke... kind-of makes you wonder just how clean our room is... but at least we have a few comforts from home to help. (our own pillows and mugs go a long ways in the comfort department!!)

A few prayer requests...

Jadon is pretty sick. We'll be taking him into the Urgent Care tomorrow. He's just really stuffy and not himself and has been fighting this cold for almost 3 weeks now.
The rest of us are all borderline under the weather... Elie is probably the healthiest with just minor stuffiness. Bryce is stuffy with a minor soar throat, but otherwise feels fine, and I have a soar throat and lingering cough. It would be a bit easier if we were all feeling just a bit better...
Bryce's computer and electrical equipment is acting up...of course, because we are on the road and he's not in the office! But it makes for a very stressful time for him.

Thanks for your prayers. We'll be talking to you from Iowa next!

So great to hear from you. I'm glad you made it to Kansas safely and I LOVE that you let your kids run up and down the hall of the hotel. How great!
